Scarlet A. Newman-Thomas received her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley where she double majored in 1) music, with a focus in composition; and 2) third world development studies. In addition to Berkeley’s Jazz Improv Ensemble and the University Symphony Orchestra, Scarlet played with local bands as well as an African drumming group—even traveling to Ghana to further her knowledge of West African music and culture.
Scarlet now works in Los Angeles as a composer, performer, and studio musician. She plays in Professor Possessor.
